A little late, but here you go anyway!
We have a new addition to the family! Meet The Wild Aspen! This cute little guy has been a dream of ours for the last 3-4 years. Karen knew she wanted a cute vintage trailer and had everyone keep their eyes out for the perfect trailer! Her dad found the perfect one in a tiny little town in Utah. He paid $500 for this thing that had been sitting in a field for who know’s how long. Then her dad towed it all the way from Utah to California for us! That was nearly 4 years ago…
In that time that has passed, there have been many life high points and low points. A low point when Karen’s dad passed away last year. So the little trailer he found in Utah has now become almost a tribute piece for him. We named the little guy The Wild Aspen after the gorgeous Quaking Aspen trees at grandpa’s favorite fishing lake. We have major plans for this trailer and hope to take it back to grandpa’s favorite lake where we hope The Wild Aspen will finally feel at home.
Here’s a little more on the details of this trailer and what our goals are. It is a 1974 Kearl Trophy Trailer that needs a major overhaul. There are some areas with dry rot and water damage that need to be replaced. But most of the interior is in pretty good shape. The dining table folds into a bed and that is in good condition as is the kitchen cupboards. They just need a little bit of a facelift. So there will be a lot of paint and fun details we will be adding to the trailer.
We created a mood board of what we want the overall vibe of The Wild Aspen to be. The goal is clean and simple lines with natural colors, and bright light, with neutral fabrics, and accents of botanical prints. We love wood and metal so we will throw that in the mix as well. We can’t wait for the outcome so stay tuned on this blog where we will continue to post the status of this major DIY project!
