Quilt Coat

I found this super old quilt at a garage sale a few years ago. I actually bought two quilts! One is in great shape, with a pretty tulip pattern and is used in my guest bedroom. The other was not in great shape so I tried using it as a rug for awhile. It just didn’t work there or on a bed, so I had it in a trunk for a couple years, always planning to make something out of it. Fast-forward and I was inspired by @RudyJude on instagram to make it into a coat. I know not everyone agrees with cutting up a quilt. But I get far more enjoyment and appreciation for the person who made it when I get to wear it a couple times a week. Also the quilt itself is pretty worn, but I’m all about well-worn, and well-loved clothing that has character and shows a life lived hard. Hope you enjoy seeing the process of my mom and I turning it into a cute bomber jacket with a pattern of my mom’s from the 70s. I also patched a pocket on some old jeans and made a pair of lounge shorts (but they don’t fit well so I have yet to wear them 😉 )

You brought me the loveliest Mother’s Day bouquet I have ever seen. I cried. My daughter Colleen Nettleton, loves you. Just finally found your card that came with the flowers. So I was exploring your website.

I love your website. I love your jacket and shorts that you and your Mom made from an old quilt. I love old quilts and have several from my Mom and Aunts.

May I never lose your website again. You are amazing.

    1. Thank you so much Betty!!! What kind words. We love Colleen too. She is just the sweetest. Take care xoxo
